National Drink Wine Day & Baking Adventures!

Image
Ya'll... Did you know February 18th was National Drink Wine Day? This holiday was meant for me. I'm currently enjoying a nice glass of Merlot on this day off. If you'll stick around you'll see David and I have been trying to branch out and enjoy wines from around the world on the weekends. We've tried out about 6 new brands. Anyhow, on to today's show and share... So today I want to share the past month of baking and decorating sugar cookies. I have been in love with cookies for a long time. It started early in college when I had my own money and got to wander around the mall when I wanted. I stumbled upon the Great American Cookie Co. and though I love ALL cookies, it amazed me what they could do with decorating and creativity. Fast forward to my junior year of college. My roommate Page comes along and she's like a miniature Betty Crocker. She knows recipes by heart, she bakes cookies like there's no tomorrow. She made me realize how fun it is to ...

What's for Dinner?

So... it's that time again.  Over the past couple of weeks I've really fallen back in love with cooking. I've started meal planning more often and I've been trying lots of recipes. I don't cook every night of the week. We generally get take out one night, then another night is usually leftovers.  Here was the first full week of January 2019. 10 Minute Shrimp with Zucchini Noodles This recipe was so simple and quick. You just need a spiralizer of some sort, I bought this one  off of Amazon a couple of years ago, it was an excellent investment.  I added much more spice than called for in the shrimp, yet used less butter. My amazing husband bought me The GreenPan for Christmas. Yes, he buys me cookware for Christmas. I don't do jewelry or anything like that. I like useful things!  Anyhow, that pan allows you to use less butter and oil, as it's nonstick. I added some for flavor. The lemon just adds a little kick to the flavors.  ...

New Year's Resolutions

So today is the day. New year, new you! You can do anything today! You can start a healthy lifestyle, vow to read more, work on being nicer, being more organized, or anything you think you need to do! How do you do it? 1. Seek accountability.   Find someone or a group of people and tell them your goals. This will make you more accountable to someone other than yourself. After my first son was born, I had a group of online moms who helped me lose that baby weight. Their support was amazing, the 25 year old metabolism helped too.  2. Pick a date.   Putting a deadline or at least a check in on your goals is proven to help you fulfill them. We all want to reach our goals, but we need timelines. 3. Make mini goals.   Sometimes we have to chunk our goals to avoid burnout. You need some wins throughout your journey to keep you motivated. Many people will use small rewards. Some will just use a visual tracker to see progres...

Let's Kick 2019 Off Properly

So, I have set aside my blogging for a long time now. I had a mommy blog for a while, I have used a crafty blog, and a fitness blog. Now it's time to combine all of that into MY blog. Welcome, everyone! I hope to get some of my dear friends to come and start guest blogging with me, but for now, I'll introduce you to myself and my family. My name is Jamie, I'm married to David and we have two boys, Asher and Boone. We met in college in 2003, married in 2009, and had the boys over the last 8 years. Our story has many more bumps and high points, but I'll save those for another day. I've been working in education since 2009, and started teaching permanently in 2013. David works for a large rental car company, in the remarking department. That company has been so wonderful to us over the past 11 years, we couldn't ask for more.   We've finally stabilized our home/work balance a bit, and are trying to make life better each day. We love to camp and graduate...
